Lovely died in the early hours of Monday morning. We think that her organs were too immature, and perhaps, too damaged by malnutrition, to allow for her continued survival.
Honestly, I am too stunned and defeated to ascribe any special meaning or purpose to Lovely's life and death. She leaves behind a broken Mother, 18 years old, sick and orphaned. There is nothing right or fair about that, and I certainly don't want to minimise her loss with flowery sentiments.
We gave Lovely the best that we had to give. The best care, the best medicine, and it wasn't enough. The only thing left is a hope that God has all ready healed what we could not.
No, I have no fancy words, just that hope, and tears for a bereft young girl, and a heart felt cry;
Lord, send me another, and give us the knowledge and wisdom that the world lacks, so that the next one might survive against seemingly impossible odds.

may the peace that passeth our understanding guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, may He bless and keep you and may His face shine upon you. May you know whom you have belived and be persuaded that He is able. May His presense surround you and His unending love be poured over your soul.
Oh, Susan, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of a precious little baby.
You do so much good in the midst of such sorrow, but it must be terribly hard right now.
I have been reading your blog for many months now.....my life resembles yours a little - just at the other side of the world. I run Forever Angels Baby Home in Tanzania and although we are much less equipped than you are - we see similar babies and cope with similar death and heartbreak.

I have been reading your blog for many months now - you live a similar life to me - just on the other side of the world.
I run a Baby Home in Tanzania (www.foreverangels.org) and your blog often echos my feelings. You have way better equipment than we do, and I guess see much sicker babies - but we've had our fair few tiny babies, unbelievably malnourished children and children with severe SEN.....
I just wanted to say - be strong. Losing these babies is devestating - but saving them is wonderful...and you do so much of that.
