In Septemeber 2008, I traveled 6000 miles to Haiti's Kenscoff mountains. My mission: to care for some of the orphaned and abandoned, the sick, malnourished and premature infants of this beautiful but beleagured Caribbean nation.

Apparently, we are not going to make it to Hispaniola today. The US military say that they cannot guarantee the safety of people who arrive on commercial flights. Frankly, I don't think we need them to guarantee our safety; there are reports that a flight was stormed by looters when it landed a few days ago. However, flights continued to take-off and land after this incident, including the flight that was chartered to evacuate 81 orphans from GLA. As far as I can see, the security situation at Toussaint Louverture Airport has not deteriorated since we left Haiti on Thursday.

Our last hope is that the US Military will allow us to fly in on one of their flights. Dixie Bickel is still working on that. There is a chance - slim to nil - that the US navy will advocate for our return on a military flight so that they can place the premature babies on their Comfort Ship with us.

Frustrated? You bet!

**Here is a quote that someone gave to me the other day: God does not call the equipped, He equips the called.

You are 'called' and God will equip you.

Praying that you get back to your Little Angels soon...that has to be SO tough to be "stuck" in the U.S. when you know there is so much work to be done back in Haiti.

God Bless.

Hi Susan just catching up on your blog ...what an amazing few days..you are part of those little angels getting their wings to fly to safety and comfort ...maybe now you can receive a pair of wings of your own to fly back to where you and your fellow wonderful people are needed. Wait on the outcome though maybe there is a reason for this hold up maybe there is another way or something else not know to us...but God knows all he might have other plans and for very good reasons. Can you catch up and revive yourself with sleep and nourishment right now so to be all the more awesome when you return. always with you in my heart and what a wonderful privilege you have of been used in such a special way. May Jehovah continue to bless you and keep you. smiles Michelle

Susan,
I thank you for your great love for the children under your care. Our family prays daily for you and the other GLA staff as you cope with the sudden separation from your little ones. Thanks to all of you, where once there were four, now there are five. Sevil joined us on Friday in Miami. Many, many thanks for your continued service to those most in need.
Sincerely,
Brian Fletcher
